Haut-Katanga Journalists Visit Provincial Projects as Kazembe Administration Highlights Development Progress

Haut-Katanga Showcases Government-Funded Infrastructure Projects After First Year of Kazembe Leadership

Journalists in Haut-Katanga Province have visited several infrastructure projects financed through the provincial government’s own resources as part of efforts to showcase development progress made during Governor Martin Kazembe Shula’s first year in office.

The field visit allowed media professionals to assess ongoing construction and rehabilitation works across the province and gain a better understanding of projects being implemented to improve public infrastructure and services.

The inspected projects form part of the provincial government’s development programme, which focuses on addressing infrastructure challenges through locally funded initiatives.

The works include improvements in areas such as roads, public facilities, and urban development, aimed at strengthening connectivity and supporting economic activity.

During the tour, project teams provided updates on construction progress, implementation challenges, and the expected impact of the developments on local communities.

Haut-Katanga remains one of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s most important economic regions due to its mining activities and strategic role in the country’s economy.

However, rapid urban growth and increased economic activity have created demand for improved infrastructure to support businesses, residents, and investment.

The provincial administration has emphasised that investing in infrastructure remains a key priority for improving mobility, enhancing public services, and creating conditions for sustainable economic development.

The engagement with journalists also formed part of efforts to promote transparency and accountability by giving the media direct access to ongoing projects and enabling more informed reporting on provincial development initiatives.

As Governor Kazembe marks his first year in office, the provincial government says it will continue focusing on accelerating infrastructure projects and ensuring that public resources are directed toward programmes that generate visible benefits for the people of Haut-Katanga.
